Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)Business and industry leaders know that the costs of hiring, training, and retaining high-quality
workers significantly impact their bottom line.
To address these issues, a new portable skills credential, the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC),
is gaining national momentum by promising to increase economic competitiveness through a stronger
workforce. Thirty states, including Tennessee, have formed a consortium to endorse and accept this
new portable skills credential.
The Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) is a credential based upon the WorkKeys assessments
that substantiate to employers that an individual possesses the basic workplace skills required for
21st Century jobs. Numerous surveys have demonstrated a gap between the current workforce and
the basic skills needs of employers .
What are the levels of a Career Readiness Certificate? The Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) focuses on three targeted skills: Applied Math Reading for Information Locating Information
Bronze Level - An individual achieving this level possesses core employability skills for approximately 30% of the profiled jobs.
Silver Level - An individual achieving this level possesses core employability skills for approximately 65% of the profiled jobs.
Gold Level - An individual achieving this level possesses core employability skills for approximately 90% of the profiled jobs.
